Announcements 10/31/18

To all interested Swimmers and Parents registration and meet the coaches night will be on November 8th from 6:00 to 7:30 in room 121. All parents and swimmers should attend this meeting. Swimmers will be fitted for team suits after the meeting. The cost for swimming is $350 for the 2018-2019 season. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Branch in room 121 or Lori Spencer across from Student Services.


Poinsettia orders must be turned in by Friday, November 2nd to Lori Spencer.



Dinner, Friday and Saturday here at the High School at 5:00pm before the show, “The Tempest”. Dinner is $7.-  The menu is Pot Roast with mashed potatoes, carrots and dessert. Dinner land show: Adults $11.-, Seniors $9.-, Students $7.-







Today GSTA’s meeting will feature a cart full of LGBT-themed books provided by Ms. Preble. Come browse with us at 2:00 in Room 213.


Students who park at the Middle School:
On FRIDAY, November 2nd, the middle school is hosting a Naturalization Ceremony. You may not park in the middle school lot for that day. Thank you.


Attention all Bonny Eagle students! The Class of 2021 will be holding a Dodgeball fundraiser on November 13th and 14th. Participants will sign up in groups of 5, and will then compete in a bracket-fashioned competition. The first team to completely eliminate the other, or the team with the most participants remaining after 10 minutes will win, and move on. The cost of participating is $10.- per team. Each member of the winning team will receive a gift card. Snacks and drinks will also be available at the tournament, and all are welcome. Please see Mr. Cobleigh or any of the sophomore class officers if you have any questions.

TOMORROW is Late Arrival Day!

There will be an outing club meeting this Wednesday October 24th after school in room 128. We will be designing t-shirts and making nature journals for our outings….please be there and join us for a fun time planning our excursions….one if Peaks Island hiking in the Spring.  See Ms. Maxwell or Mrs. Deans with questions.

Gay Straight Transgender Alliance, GSTA, meets after school on Wednesdays from 2:05-3:15 in room 213. See Ms. Thomas in room 213 if you are interested, or just show up.

Attention all members of the Language Honor Society. There will be a very important meeting of the whole club tomorrow October 24th at 2:10 in room 209. Please make every effort to attend. If you are unable to attend, please contact Ms.Mazzarese, Ms. Thomas, or a member of the leadership team to arrange to make up what you will miss.

Reminder for 11th and 12th grade students. Thursday, October 25th we will host ASVAB’s in the CafĂ© starting promptly at 7:30. You may sign up in the student services office. We will note be calling students down. You may need to make up any class work you miss that day.

Picture Make up and RE-Take Day and Club Photo Day is FRIDAY!!!  Forms will be going out to your first block teachers tomorrow.

Attention students interested in participating in Model UN this year, there will be an informational meeting on Wednesday 10/17 after school at 2:15pm in room 222 for returning and new members.  Please email Ms. Dolan if you are interested, but cannot attend.



Seniors: Anyone who picked up a green card to register to vote needs to return it to Ms. Cyr in Room 205 by Friday. Otherwise they will have to take them to their respective town offices. Anyone who is 17 or older and wants to register to vote can see Ms. Cyr for more information. 




American Red Cross Blood Drive will be October 23rd in the gym from 7:30am to 1:30pm. If you are 16 or older and meet the height and weight requirements, you can donate blood. Please see Ms. Cyr in Room 205 to schedule an appointment. Give the gift of life.

Congratulations to sophomore Zach Brislin who placed 1st in his section at the National Chess Day tournament in Cape Elizabeth this past Saturday. Chess season starts soon. We will host the Chess Team tryouts this Thursday, after school in room 207.  All interested Chess players are invited to tryout.

Attention Seniors: Graduation orders will be collected by Jostens on Wednesday, October 17th during lunch in the cafeteria.  Did you complete the Senior Survey online... check it out... it is important!  Look for it in your email.



The physical education field trip to Douglas Mountain tomorrow has been postponed due to rain and rescheduled for next Tuesday, October 16th.

BEGSTA will meet this week on Wednesday at 2:10pm in Room 213. See Ms. Thomas for more information.

The Bonny Eagle Academic Decathlon team will be holding its first meeting Tuesday October 9th after school in Mr. Droggitis’ room, room 229. If you are interested in joining or just finding our more about Academic Decathlon please come to the meeting or email Mr. Droggitis if you can’t make it. This year’s topic is the 1960’s! It’s a great club to be a part of so we look forward to seeing you Tuesday.

Here we are at the first of autumn which means Winder sports are just around the corner. We will host sign ups for winter sports at the end of October. Girls Ice Hockey begins in early November. All interested girls ice hockey players must sign up now in the athletic office and pick up information for the early pre-season.

Attention Language Honor Society members: We will meet this week on Wednesday at 2:15 and Thursday at 7:15 in room 209. See Ms. Thomas or Ms. Mazzarese for more information.

If you have a block 5 study hall or early dismissal, please consider volunteering with the Teen Trendsetters. This is a mentoring program where High School students read and do fun activities with elementary students at Buxton Center during block 5 once a week. Plus it’s a fun way to get community service hours? See Ms. Wade in Student Services for more information or an application .

On Thursday, October 4th, Mr. Penna will be in the library to meet with student leaders to discuss the district’s vision, core beliefs and the PBE system. All student council representatives and class officers are invited to meet with Mr. Penna during block 4. If you are a member of student council or you are a class officer, please grab your lunch and join Mr. Penna for a lunch meeting this Thursday. He will be holding three similar meetings during each of the 3 lunches.

Community Forum - October 4th

Superintendent Paul Penna will be hosting several planned community forums during the 2018-2019 school year.  The first in the series will take place as follows:

6:00 to 7:30 PM

The purpose of the forum is to gather feedback and information from stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, professional staff, support staff, and community members) to ensure that the District is preparing children for their future.  Mr. Penna will be meeting with all stakeholders to review the District’s mission, vision, and core beliefs to see how they align to a proficiency-based education (PBE) system.  He will be seeking input on what works in a PBE system and what presents challenges.

ATHLETIC UPDATE for this afternoon:
-1st Team Soccer game is off.
-Field Hockey game as been postponed to 10/8 @ 4 pm.
-1st Team and JV Volleyball - no practice.
