Yellow Tulip Project: May is mental health awareness month. Every year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness. Twenty percent of you ages 13-18 live with a mental health condition.
To help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, the Advanced Health class is working with the Yellow Tulip Project to build a Hope Garden at our school. The purpose of a Hope Garden and yellow tulips is to instill hope and happiness. We want to help others realize that even in the darkest of places, hope is always there and suicide should never be an option. We are doing a fundraiser to help raise money to purchase yellow tulips for our Hope Garden. We have created a Hope Board outside room 204 and we will be selling yellow tulip donation cards to put up on our Hope Board for $1.00 a piece. Also, on the bulletin are resources about the project and a sign-up sheet if you are interested in helping plant the garden in the fall. Students from Advanced Health class will be coming around during Homebase time on Tuesdays and Thursdays to sell donation cards from May 16th to May 28th. You can also purchase a donation card from Mrs. Bjorkdahl in room 204 before school hours until May 30th. Please help us smash the stigma that surrounds mental illness. We need to talk about mental illness, not suffer alone or feel ashamed.
