Did you know that 3.6% of high school students who took the 2021 Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey reported that they were transgender?

Sunday, November 20, 2022 was the Transgender Day of Remembrance

It is a day to commemorate transgender people who have lost their lives or been the victim of anti-transgender violence. This day has been around since 1999 when Gwendolyn Ann Smith, a transgender advocate, organized a vigil to honor the death of Rita Hester.  Hester was one of many victims of anti-transgender violence.

Join the Civil Rights Team as we remember and honor transgender people everywhere.  Take time to learn more about them.

 Wednesday Announcement

National Asexual Awareness week continues. WOW!! (exasperated) This may be uncomfortable for you all to listen to and we appreciate everybody's openness to learning about these things. Asexuality is an umbrella term, covering all kinds of experiences and identities. Lets try and continue this! Hopefully you’re learning that Asexuality is a real thing. There are some people that believe Asexuals are just Homosexuals in denial and discriminate against them. Asexuals also have to deal with being pressured into sexual activity and/or assaulted. Some people think being Asexual is just a phase and that they haven’t found the right person yet. Please join celebrating this Awareness Week by wearing Black, white gray and purple on Friday
