This week there will be a mandatory Model UN meeting on Tuesday, April 26 or Thursday, April 28.  Students must attend ONE of these meetings.  They will take place at 2:00 pm in Room 222.  Students need to bring their Ipads with them to the meeting.

The NE FIRST robotics competition season has come to an end. BERT 133 competed at the New England District Competition April 14-16 at The BIG E in West Springfield, MA. The competition consisted of two 40 team divisions. The winning alliance of each division would move on to compete for the NE District Championship. After an initial start of a win, tie, and loss the team placed 14^th in ranking. The next 9 qualification matches were of great importance and to no avail the team managed to perform extremely well finishing in 3^rd place in our division. The 2^nd place team, Team 131 Chaos of Manchester, NH, chose us as their first alliance pick. Second pick, Team 5735 Control Freaks of Wayland, MA, completed the alliance.

 

Our alliance won quarterfinals in the first two matches out of three. We moved onto the semi-finals winning match 1 and 3 which allowed us to compete in the divisional final. Our alliance ran into issues during the first finals match with team 131 losing their shooter capability thus, us losing 114 to 98. After some swift repairs to team 131’s robot, our alliance won match two 129 to 98. More robot issues plagued our alliance during the third match causing us to lose 83 to 77.

 

Overall the team came away with a Divisional Finalist award and the Autonomous Award at the District Championship.

 

It’s been a very rewarding season with a Winners award and banner, a Finalist award, and two Autonomous awards.

This weekend, the BE Robotics Team is off to Springfield Mass. for the NE District Robotics Competition.  Wish 'em luck!  Scot Pride!

 

Interested in learning how to use Circuits and Coding? The Library will be holding Snap Circuits workshops during blocks 1, 2, and 3, this Friday, April 15th. We have several sets of Snap Circuits that we will be introducing; Students will learn the basics of how Snap Circuits work and have an introduction to coding. Space is limited, so come to the library to sign up ASAP if you are interested.

 Hello Outing Club members!  

For our next adventure, we are planning on a trip to Boston, scheduled for Saturday April 30th.  The itinerary has not been finalized, but we plan on going to see many of the free sites (like the Freedom Trail, Chinatown, Faneuil Hall, etc).  We will be riding the train down and will be using the T system and probably the water taxi.  The approximate cost with train, T pass, water taxi will be ~$60.  YOU NEED TO SIGN UP/PAY AHEAD OF TIME IN ORDER TO JOIN/SO WE CAN PURCHASE TICKETS.  We will finalize the itinerary and the cost in the next couple days, but please contact MrB or Mr Denico to let us know who will be going on the trip.  Let us know if there is anything in particular that you would like to do/see.  This should be a fun trip and will probably fill up, so be sure to let us know soon!
