Bonny Eagle High School's Student Council will be holding their annual Veterans' Day Ceremony on Thursday, November 9, at 9:45 a.m. in the gym.  All staff and students are invited to attend.

The ceremony will feature the presentation of the colors (flags) by the NJROTC, speeches about Veterans' Day by Faith Ebert (NJROTC) and Christopher Hascall, Student Council President.  Katherine Lind, Student Council Vice President, will explain the “Missing Man Table” and the NJROTC will conduct the flag folding ceremony.  The band will play patriotic musical selections, and at the conclusion of the ceremony, taps will be played and a wreath will be placed at the Vietnam Memorial marker at the front of the School.  After the ceremony, there will be a reception in the Library for our veteran guests of honor and ceremony participants.

Again, this year, we will display pictures of our veterans.  If you have a picture of a family member or friend who has served in the armed forces, please bring it in for us to display.  Photocopies of the pictures can be made if you are uncomfortable displaying the original.  All photos will be returned.

The Student Council is selling yellow ribbons that they would like everyone to wear to the ceremony.  The ribbons are $1 each and all of the proceeds are going to the Travis Mills Foundation for wounded veterans.  Link to his website:  https://www.travismills.org/foundation/.  This foundation and its retreat serves wounded veterans from all over the United States and is located near the Belgrade Lakes here in Maine.  Our goal is to raise $500 to send to them.

If you know a veteran, please invite them to our ceremony.  Their families are also welcome.
